6 Powerful Reasons For Placing Your Trust In God.
TRUST: assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you; or that is safe and reliable.
The Bible is filled with passages that encourage and instruct believers to place their trust in God. When you face life’s challenges, uncertainties, trials, stressful situations or receive bad news, you can become upset and discouraged and you can worry, fret and fear or you can trust in God who offers us comfort, strength, and guidance. But, trust in God will not work until God is your only alternative!
In this post, we will explore some of the key reasons why we should trust in God according to the Bible.
1. GOD IS FAITHFUL AND RELIABLE.
Deuteronomy 7:9 (NLT) says “Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey His commands.”
One of the primary reasons to trust in God is His unwavering faithfulness. The Bible promises that God is faithful to His promises and will always be there for us. When we struggle with doubt or fear, we can find solace in knowing that God remains constant and reliable.
2. GOD IS OUR PROVIDER. Matthew 6:25-34 (NLT) says “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to Him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?“ So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”
The Bible teaches that God is our provider and that we should not worry about our needs. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells His followers not to worry about food, drink, or clothing, as God knows our needs and will provide for us. When we trust in God, we can let go of our fears and anxieties about the future.
3. GOD IS OUR PROTECTOR.
Psalm 91:1-16 (NLT) says “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with His feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love Me. I will protect those who trust in My name. When they call on Me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them My salvation.”
The Bible assures us that when we place our trust in God, He will shield us from harm and danger. Psalm 91:1-16 promises that those who dwell in the shadow of the Almighty will be safe from any danger, and God will cover them with His feathers. By trusting in God, we can find security and peace in His loving care.
4. GOD IS OUR GUIDE.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.”
When we submit to God’s ways, He will make our paths straight, leading us to where we need to be. By trusting in God’s wisdom and direction, we can navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
5. GOD IS OUR HEALER.
Psalm 103:2-3 (NLT) says “Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases.”
One of the most profound reasons to trust in God is His power to heal. The Bible tells us that God is a compassionate and merciful healer. When we trust in God, we can find hope and healing in His loving presence.
6. GOD IS OUR HOPE.
1 Corinthians 15:19 (NLT) says “And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.”
Ephesians 1:18 (NLT) says “I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called—His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.”
Finally, the Bible teaches that God is our hope. In 1 Corinthians 15:19, we are reminded that if we have put our trust in Christ, we are not putting our hope in man. Instead, we place our hope in God, who gives us life and resurrection through Jesus Christ. By trusting in God, we can find hope and purpose in the midst of life’s challenges and uncertainties.
CONCLUSION:
As shown above, the Bible provides numerous reasons why we should trust in God. By placing our trust in Him, we can find comfort, security, guidance, healing, and hope in His unwavering love and faithfulness. As we navigate life’s journey, let us hold fast to the promises of God and trust in His perfect plan for our lives. The way you know you are trusting in God is when you have peace which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
