A Divine Stream Of Supernatural Revelation (Part 2)

Note: This is a Guest Post used with permission from Guest Author Apostle Charles Sewanyana, President and Founder of Gracious Ministries International.

When the Holy Spirit lifts the cover and removes the veil that has blocked your view of God’s plans for you, the eyes of your spirit suddenly see and perceive truths that were previously veiled. This is what the Bible calls a revelation. In one instant, everything comes into clear view, answering all your questions and giving you the direction you’ve been seeking for a long time.

The word “apokalupsis” suggests this meaning for 1 Corinthians 2:9-10: God has supernaturally pulled back the veil that previously obscured your view and blocked God’s plan from your sight. It was the Holy Spirit who actually carried out this operation and made all of these once-concealed things now visible to you....”

Truthfully, God gave us our brains so we could use them, and we need to learn how to use them well. But there are some things the mind alone will never perceive. If we are ever going to see those spiritual truths, we will have to have a spiritual experience that opens our eyes to them.

If you have been seeking answers that your mind can’t find, why not go to the ultimate Source of divine revelation? God holds all the answers you seek. As you sincerely ask in faith and genuinely open your heart so the Holy Spirit can speak to you, He will tell you everything He wants you to know!

MY PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, now I understand that I’ve been trying to find answers I’ll never discover by myself. The things I long to know can only be revealed by You, so today I ask You to pull back the veil that has concealed those things I long to understand. I know that when You get involved, my eyes will be opened and my ignorance will evaporate. I sincerely ask You in faith to speak to me and to show me those things I need to know.
I pray this in Jesus' name!

MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY

I affirm that with the help of the Holy Spirit, I clearly see and understand everything the Holy Spirit wants me to know. The day of ignorance has been removed because the Holy Spirit has come to reveal the benefits Jesus has provided for me. Now I have access to the secrets that were previously hidden to my natural mind and perception. I am thankful for the Spirit’s revealing work in my life, and I declare that I never have to claim ignorance again! I declare this by faith in Jesus' name!

QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO ANSWER

1. Have you been seeking God for answers that seem elusive to you?
2. Why not make a list of the questions for which you’re seeking answers?
3. Have you sincerely asked in faith for answers to your questions and then genuinely opened your heart to God so He can speak to you?

A Divine Stream Of Supernatural Revelation (Part 1)

Note: This is a Guest Post used with permission from Guest Author Apostle Charles Sewanyana, President and Founder of Gracious Ministries International.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. — (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

I remember one January day several years ago when I was aroused from my sleep very early in the morning, and I sensed that the Holy Spirit was awaking me because there was something He wanted to tell me. At first, I thought I was just having a difficult time sleeping, so I tried to shrug it off and go back to sleep. But the longer I lay there in my bed, the more I became aware that it was God who was stirring up my spirit. There was something He wanted to say to me.

For months preceding that time, I had been seeking answers to some very important questions about the steps we needed to take in order to fulfill the assignment God had given us. I had spent hundreds of hours thinking over the questions I faced. I had worked my ink pen over endless pages that were scrawled with my notes. Yet I couldn’t find the right answer to the questions that were constantly on my mind. I had prayed and prayed about it, but it seemed that the correct answers kept evading me. Then in the early hours of that January morning, the answers suddenly came!

I walked back and forth in our apartment as I prayed. Finally, I went into the dining room and lay my head on the dining table to pray more earnestly. I said, “Holy Spirit, what is it that You want to reveal to me this morning? What is it that You want to communicate to me?”

Suddenly — and very unexpectedly — it seemed as if the spiritual realm miraculously opened, and a stream of information descended from Heaven and began to pour the answers I needed directly into my mind! As that information began surging into my mind, I instantly saw the solutions for which I had been seeking for so long! It was as if the Holy Spirit said, “Let Me pull the curtains off your mind, so you can see everything you’ve been desiring to see. I will remove the veil of ignorance that has blinded your sight. When I do this, the ignorance will be removed and you’ll instantly know every answer you’ve been seeking!”

This was not the first time I’d had that experience. The Holy Spirit had revealed many things to me through the years — and I know He will continue to be my unlimited Source of divine revelation for the rest of the time I live on this earth. He will do the same for any person who genuinely seeks to know God’s will for his or her life, for this is the right of every child of God.

Regarding the Holy Spirit’s supernatural revelation to believers, the apostle Paul wrote, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

Paul begins this verse by talking about man’s inability to understand the deep things of God by himself. It could have been translated, “The heart of man could never dream, imagine, or conjure up the things God hath prepared for them that love Him.” The human mind, by itself, cannot fathom, even in its wildest imagination, the wonderful things God has prepared for His people! If this is so, then how can you and I ever comprehend what God has planned for us?

Paul tells us the answer in the above verse: “But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit….” This means the day of ignorance is gone! Because the Holy Spirit has come, we can now know all the things God has planned and prepared for us!

Notice that Paul says, “But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit....” The word “revealed” is the word “apokalupto”, which means to unveil, to reveal, or to uncover. It is actually a picture of something that is veiled or hidden at the moment when its veil or covering is suddenly removed. As a result, what was hidden for so long now comes into plain view. And God does all of this by His Spirit — just as He did for me on that early morning in January!

Jesus' Death And Resurrection: The Details And Time Line (Part Two).

PREPARING JESUS' BODY WITH
THE MUMMIFICATION PROCESS

After cleaning Jesus' bruised and bloody body as much as possible, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus placed Jesus in the borrowed tomb. Then, they wrapped His feet, legs, arms and torso with two inch strips of cloth. (everything but His head).

Then, they used 100 pounds of myrrh and aloes (a liquid oil) to saturate every inch of the cloth strips. When this liquid dried, it formed a very hard shell in the perfect shape of Jesus' body (See John 19:39).

Note # 1: The King James Version says 100 pounds while the New International Version says 75 pounds. For this post, we have chosen to go with the King James Version.

Note # 2: The Israelis learned this mummification process from the Egyptians during their 400 plus years of captivity in Egypt.

In accordance with Jewish burial customs, they then laid a burial cloth over Jesus' head.

When they had finished, they had a very large round stone rolled over the entrance of the tomb to seal it.

THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE TOMB

Jesus lay in the borrowed tomb for three days and three nights. Wednesday night, Thursday night, and Friday night and all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sometime after sunset on Saturday and before sunrise on Sunday, the Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead.

JESUS IS RISEN

Very early on Sunday morning, just after sunrise, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome went to the tomb so that they might anoint Jesus’ body. When they got there, they saw an opened tomb and an angel who told them that Jesus was no longer there and had risen.

Next, they saw the risen Jesus who told them to go and tell His disciples to meet Him in Galilee.

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples.

As soon as they heard that Jesus had risen, Peter and John ran to the tomb. When they got there and went into the tomb, they saw the untouched Myrrh and Aloe covered shell that was empty and the neatly folded head cloth laid on the bench. For the first time, they understood that Jesus had actually risen from the dead just as He told them He would.

For all the details, read Mathew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24 and John 20.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE RESURRECTION

The resurrection of Jesus Christ was the beginning of Christianity. If Christ had not been resurrected, Christianity would not exist today and we would have “No Hope” of having our sins forgiven, of being saved, or of spending eternity in Heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:17-20 saysAnd if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.”

RESURRECTION APPEARANCES

Over a period of 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus made twelve appearances to over 500 people and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive:

1. His first appearance was to Mary Magdalene, on that early Sunday morning. (Mark 16:9; John 20:10-18);
2. Jesus appeared to the women returning from the tomb. (Matthew 28:9-10);
3. Jesus appeared to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. (Luke 24:13-32; Mark 16:12-13);
4. He appeared to Peter in Jerusalem. (Luke 24:34; 1 Corinthians 15:5);
5. He appeared to his disciples and other followers in a locked room in Jerusalem. The apostle Thomas wasn't there at that time. (Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19-23);
6. A week later, Jesus again appeared to his disciples behind locked doors, and this time Thomas was present. (John 20:24-29);
7. Jesus appeared to seven of his disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. (John 21:1-24);
8. Jesus was seen by 500 believers at one time. (1 Corinthians 15:6);
9. He appeared to James. (1 Corinthians 15:7);
10. He appeared to eleven disciples on a mountain in Galilee. (Matt. 28:18-20);
11. He walked with his disciples along the road to Bethany, on the Mount of Olives, and then ascended into Heaven. (Luke 24:50-53);
12. He was seen by Paul on the road to Damascus. (Acts 9:3-6; 1 Corinthians 15:8).

JESUS ASCENDS INTO HEAVEN

40 days after His resurrection, Jesus left His disciples and ascended into Heaven.

Mark 16:19-20 19 says “After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.”

Jesus' Death And Resurrection: The Details And Time Line (Part One).

 By:  Bill and Teddy Rogers

WHAT JESUS SAID

Before Jesus died, He told His disciples the following:

  • One of the disciples would betray Him;
  • Peter would deny knowing Him three times;
  • The Jewish Council would condemn Him to death;
  • He would die and be in the tomb for three days and three nights;
  • On the third day, He would rise again.

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED

  • Judas Iscariot betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver (See Matthew 26:14);
  • Before the rooster crowed, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times (See Matthew 26:69-75);
  • The Sanhedrin had Him arrested and illegally convicted Him of blasphemy (See Matthew 26:1-2, 26:57-67);
  • The High Priest went to Pontius Pilate, the Roman Governor of Judea, and sought the death penalty (See Matthew 27:1-2);
  • Pontius Pilate granted their request, had Jesus brutally flogged, and handed Him over to be crucified (See Matthew 27:11-26);
  • Roman soldiers crucified Jesus and nailed Him to the cross (See Matthew 27:27-44);
  • At 3:00pm, Jesus cried out in a loud voice and died (See Matthew 27:45-50);
  • Jesus was taken down from the cross and buried in a borrowed tomb (See Matthew 27:57- 61);
  • Jesus' tomb was sealed and Romans soldiers posted to guard it (See Matthew 27:62-66);
  • On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead (See Matthew 28:1-10);
  • The Roman soldiers took a very large bribe to keep all this quiet (See Matthew 28:11-15).

A SPECIAL HIGH SABBATH

On Wednesday morning at 9:00am, not on Friday as currently observed, Jesus was crucified and nailed to the cross. Six hours later at 3:00pm, Jesus took His last breath and died. Because the special High Sabbath would begin at sunset on Wednesday and run through sunset on Thursday (This was not the weekly Sabbath but a special High Sabbath), Jewish Law required that Jesus be buried before sunset on Wednesday.

THE BORROWED TOMB

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, secret believers of Jesus who were members of the Sanhedrin (the Jewish ruling council), went to Pontius Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. Pontius Pilate granted their request.

Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus took Jesus' body down from the cross, covered Him, and placed His body in a nearby tomb owned and donated by Joseph of Arimathea.

Evidence That Jesus Actually Died And Arose.

By:  Bill and Teddy Rogers

This evidence demonstrates Jesus uniqueness in history and proves that He is God's Son. No one else was able to predict his own resurrection and then accomplish it.

PROPOSED EXPLANATIONS FOR EMPTY TOMB

  • Jesus was only unconscious and later revived.
  • The women made a mistake and went to the wrong tomb.
  • Unknown thieves stole Jesus' body.
  • The disciples stole Jesus' body.
  • The religious leaders stole Jesus' body to produce it later.

EVIDENCE AGAINST THESE EXPLANATIONS

  • A Roman soldier told Pilate that Jesus was dead. (See Mark 15:44-45)
  • The Roman soldiers did not break Jesus' legs, because He had already died, and one of them pierced Jesus' side with a spear. (See John 19:32-34)
  • Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus wrapped Jesus' body and placed it in the tomb. (See John 19:38-40)
  • Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw Jesus placed in the tomb. (See Matthew 27:59-61, Mark 15:47, and Luke 23:55)
  • On Sunday morning, Peter and John also went to the same tomb. (See John 20:3-9)
  • The tomb was sealed and guarded by Roman Soldiers. (See Matthew 27:65-66)
  • The disciples were ready to die for their faith. Stealing Jesus' body would have been admitting that their faith was meaningless. (See Acts 12:2)
  • The tomb was guarded and sealed. (See Matthew 27:66)
  • If the religious leaders had taken Jesus' body, they would have produced it to stop the rumors of His resurrection. (See “None”)

Why Did Jesus Have To Die?

By:  Bill and Teddy Rogers

THE PROBLEM

We have all done things that are wrong, and we have failed to obey God's laws. Because of this, we have been separated from God our Creator. Separation from God is death; but, by ourselves, we can do nothing to become united with God.

WHY JESUS COULD HELP

Jesus was not only a man; He was God's unique Son. Because Jesus never disobeyed God and never sinned, only He can bridge the gap between the sinless God and sinful mankind.

THE SOLUTION

Jesus freely offered His life for us, dying on the cross in our place, taking all our wrongdoing upon Himself, and saving us from the consequences of sin – including God's judgment and death.

THE RESULTS

Jesus took our past, present, and future sins upon Himself so that we could have new life. Because all our wrongdoing is forgiven, we are reconciled to God. Furthermore, Jesus' resurrection from the dead is the proof that His substitutionary sacrifice on the cross was acceptable to God, and His resurrection has become the source of new life for whoever believes that Jesus is the Son of God. All who believe in Him may have this new life and live in union with Him.
