NEED REST?

NOTE: This is a Guest Post used with permission from Ilene Sims at http://www.essentialsforlifetoday.com.

I was raised to have a good work ethic, do all you can without asking, and by all means loving your neighbor as you love yourself.

I grew up in a time when many fathers believed it was important to raise strong sons. My brother, Ervin is the oldest and I, the first girl am next to him, then came a bunch (6 more SONS) after me.

Therefore, I caught all the man teachings being passed down from father to sons. Since daddy was a carpenter, we learned how to build: using a hammer and nails, plumbing, fixing broken things, paint, how to wall paper and of course, the worst one of all: electricity. (I got enough stings to leave that alone).

You name it, he taught it to us, and I’m thankful for the legacy that was passed on.

Living in the world we live in, it can become easy to strive: (devoting serious effort or energy, quarreling, contending, and fighting) to keep up with the Jones’s.

Always reaching for more: Houses, new cars, the latest gadgets, etc. It was like striving to get, striving to achieve, striving…but somewhere, somehow, I grew weary of the continuous circle.

The Teacher in me (Holy Spirit) was teaching me to trust Him, not myself. Wait on the Lord, not I can do it all by myself. Slow down-stop going so fast, I will show you how to get ahead. Be still!

Then came the revelation: It’s not in trying, but in trusting, it’s not in running, but in resting, it’s not in wondering, but in praying, that we find the strength of the Lord.

There is a new strength that I have found and it’s in resting in Him. Isaiah 30:15 declares: This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: "In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

That TV commercial ( I can bring home the bacon –da-da-da--fry it up in a pan) …I let it go!!!.

For a long time, I thought I had to do it the only way I knew, but as I sat at His feet, I began to get it--- there is peace and rest. Make room for Him. Find a quiet place without the noise. let His Presence bring you rest.

A Catastrophe In America!

SOME SAY JESUS IS NO LONGER THE REASON FOR THE SEASON
IN AMERICA!

On June 28, 1870, an act of Congress declared December 25th to be a national holiday called Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus, there would be no reason to celebrate December 25th as a national holiday. Jesus was and still is God's Gift offered to all.

WHAT CHRISTMAS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Christmas was originally supposed to be a day off from work to celebrate the birth of Jesus, attend church services, exchange Christmas cards, sing Christmas carols, view the baby Jesus in the manger, and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Christmas is not our birthday – it's the birthday of Jesus. If you are a born-again Christian, you have already received the greatest gift – Christ living in your heart.

WHAT CHRISTMAS HAS BECOME.

But, greedy merchants have successfully turned Christmas into nothing more than a day of extravagant exchanges of gifts to greatly increase their profits. Now, many are offended if they don't personally receive lots of expensive gifts.

And, many feel pressured to buy gifts they can't afford often for people they may not even like. Many others receive gifts they don't even want or need and can't wait until the next shopping day so they can exchange them. How ridiculous is that!

And now, because of Political Correctness and an attempt to not offend anyone, our government is discouraging us from saying Merry Christmas, singing Christmas carols on the streets or in our public schools, displaying the baby Jesus in the Manger, and step-by-step removing God, the Bible, Crosses and Christian Statues from every facet of our society.

For all practical purposes, the original meaning of Christmas has almost completely disappeared in America. Shame on them – God Cannot Be Pleased!

WHAT WE BELIEVE!

We believe that everyone has the right to believe in the true meaning of Christmas or not to believe. That is our individual privilege. So, if you don't want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, don't. We won't be upset with you.

But, don't try to hinder us from doing so. We and the entire Christian Community are very offended that, because of just a few, Christmas is no longer being celebrated as the holiday it was originally intended to be.

If this is truly the case, then December 25th (Christmas) should be abolished as a national holiday and all of our politicians, other government officials, and those who do not believe in the true meaning of Christmas, if December 25th doesn't fall on Saturday or Sunday, should consider this as just another work day, go to work, and get something meaningful done that benefits all of us and not just a few!

Regardless of what happens, we and our house will continue to thank God for His greatest gift – Jesus – who is the real reason for the season and say Merry Christmas every chance we get.

If anyone says to you “Happy Holidays!”, ask them what holiday are they talking about. Then, with a smile, wish them a “Merry Christmas!”.

Finally, if you agree with this post, please share this with everyone you know. Let’s put Jesus back into the Season all across America.

Peace, Blessings, Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year To All,

Bill and Teddy Rogers

What Is Your Response To The Unfair Affairs In Life?

NOTE: This is a Guest Post used with permission from Gloria Thomas Anderson,

Have you ever felt like life has dealt an unfair hand of hardship to you? I know that I have felt that way occasionally—until I met Rita (alias).

This beautiful young lady openly shared her courageous story with me. A life filled with horrendous experiences that were hard to even imagine. As I listened to her life of poverty and abuse, what stood out to me most was her positive attitude.

She spoke with a strong determination to continue onward in the destiny and purpose she envisioned for her life. The saying that "you can't tell a book by its cover" is an applicable one. To look at her from the outside, you would never know the atrocities she had survived. The same analogy may apply to you.

" No one else can take your choice of response."
-Gloria Thomas Anderson, LMSW

Sometimes what others may think they see when looking at you is not what is at all. You may lack control over certain life situations, especially when it involves other people whose actions are contrary to you. As you read the poem, "Choices", ask yourself, "How am I responding to unfair life circumstances?"

Sometimes the reality of what someone else has gone through can cause us to remember how blessed we are. How we choose to respond to the unfair affairs of life is our choice. No one else can take your choice of response. That is only given away—by choice.
