8. HELP THE POOR;

Proverbs 19:17 (NIV) says Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.”

Proverbs 21:13 (NIV) says Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered.”

9. DON’T ACCEPT BRIBES;

Proverbs 13:22 (NIV) says A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.”

The Book Of Proverbs gives us much practical instruction on the use of money, although it sometimes is instruction we would prefer not to hear. We often feel more comfortable continuing in our established habits than to learn how to use our money more wisely. Bible Proverbs include the following:

2. DON’T BE LAZY;

Proverbs 28:25 (NIV) says The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.”

4. BE GENEROUS IN GIVING;

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NIV) says One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Proverbs 19:17 (NIV) says Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.”

Proverbs 22:9 (NIV) says The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.”

Proverbs 28:27 (NIV) says Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.”

5. BE CAUTIOUS IN COUNTERSIGNING FOR ANOTHER;

Proverbs 11:15 (NIV) says “Whoever puts up security for a stranger will surely suffer, but whoever refuses to shake hands in pledge is safe.”

Proverbs 17:18 (NIV) says One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge and puts up security for a neighbor.”

Things God Hates Or Detests.

In the Book of Proverbs, we are told of types of people and actions that God hates or detests. Let the following be your guidelines of what not to be or do!

VIOLENT PEOPLE

Proverbs 3:31 (NIV) says Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways.”

PERVERSE PEOPLE

Proverbs 3:32 (NIV) says For the Lord detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence.”

Proverbs 11:20 (NIV) says The Lord detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.”

DISHONEST PEOPLE

Proverbs 11:1 (NIV) says “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.”

UNTRUTHFUL PEOPLE

Proverbs 12:22 (NIV) says The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”

WICKED PEOPLE

Proverbs 15:8 (NIV) says The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.”

Proverbs 15:9 (NIV) says The Lord detests the way of the wicked, but he loves those who pursue righteousness.”

Proverbs 15:26 (NIV) says The Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.”

PROUD PEOPLE

Proverbs 16:5 (NIV) says The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.”

Pride is the inner voice that whispers, “My way is best.” It is resisting God’s leadership and believing that you are able to live without His help. Whenever you find yourself wanting to do it your way and not God’s way, you are being pulled by pride. Only when you eliminate pride can God help you become all He meant you to be.

PEOPLE WHO JUDGE UNJUSTLY

Proverbs 17:15 (NIV) says “Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent—the Lord detests them both.”

7 MORE THINGS GOD HATES OR DETESTS

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV) says There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.”
