Are You Living As One Forgiven?

Psalm 32:1 (NIV) says Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sin are covered.”

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV) says Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

Below are the lyrics to a beautiful song written by Gloria Gaither that exemplifies life changes in a person who truly has been forgiven.

I THEN SHALL LIVE”

I then shall live as one who's been forgiven.
I'll walk with joy to know my debts are paid.
I know my name is clear before my Father;
I am His child and I am not afraid.
So, greatly pardoned, I'll forgive my brother;
The law of love I gladly will obey.

I then shall live as one who's learned compassion.
I've been so loved, that I'll risk loving too.
I know how fear builds walls instead of bridges;
I'll dare to see another's point of view.
And when relationships demand commitment,
Then I'll be there to care and follow through.

Your Kingdom come around and through and in me;
Your power and glory, let them shine through me.
Your Hallowed Name, O may I bear with honor,
And may Your living Kingdom come in me.
The Bread of Life, O may I share with honor,
And may You feed a hungry world through me.

Amen, Amen, Amen

God's Amazing Grace

The following are the lyrics to “Amazing Grace” first published in 1779, a praise song written by John Newton, a former slave ship captain who heard God's Word. He was a self-proclaimed wretch who once was lost but then was found, saved by God's Amazing Grace. And, we too were lost but, Thank God, we were found and saved by God's Amazing Grace – Hallelujah!

AMAZING GRACE LYRICS

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.

Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

MADE ALIVE IN CHRIST

Ephesians 2:1-9 (NIV) saysAs for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.”

Romans 5:15 (NIV) says “But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!”

John 9:25 (NIV) says “He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

Psalm 66:16 (NIV) says “Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me.”

YOUR ASSIGNMENT

Go forth and tell others what Jesus has done for you.

Can The World See Jesus In You?

For the world to see Jesus in you, always do the following:

1. ACT LIKE A CHILD OF GOD.

Philippians 2:14-15 (NKJV) saysDo all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.”

2. DON'T WORRY.

Philippians 4:4-7 (NKJV) says Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

3. MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS.

Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV) says “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Whenever you accomplish anything or receive honors, praise, or awards for what you have done,
4. ALWAYS GIVE GOD THE PRAISE FIRST.

Are You Ready For The Rapture?

Jesus is coming back soon to gather up all His children in what is known as the “Rapture”. Are you ready for His return?

Matthew 24:27 (NIV) says For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”

Matthew 24:30-31 (NIV) says “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NIV) saysFor the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”

Note: Please keep in mind that the above scriptures only apply to those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior and made Him Lord of their life.

It has been prophesied that only 10% of “Born Again” Christians are ready for Jesus' return. Jesus used the following parable to explain what it meant to be ready for His return.

THE PARABLE OF THE TEN VIRGINS

Matthew 25:1-13 (NIV) says “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’ Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.

The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’ ‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’ But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” End Of Parable.

This parable is about a wedding. On the wedding day, the bridegroom went to the bride's house for the ceremony. Then, the bride and the groom, along with a great procession, returned to the groom's house where a festival and a great banquet took place, often lasting a full week.

These ten virgins were waiting to join the procession and they hoped to take part in the wedding banquet. But, when the groom didn't come at the expected time, five of them were out of oil for their lamps. By the time they had purchased extra oil, it was too late to join the festival and banquet.

When Jesus returns to take His children to Heaven, we must be ready. Spiritual preparedness cannot be bought or borrowed at the last minute.

The Bible teaches that every person is responsible for his or her own spiritual condition.

In the above parable, 50% were ready and 50% were not.

How To Live Your Faith Each Day (Part 4)

The following are guidelines for living as redeemed people in a fallen world. We are to:

  • Give Ourselves To God As Living Sacrifices (Part 1);
  • Obey The Government (Part 2);
  • Love Our Neighbors (Part 3); And
  • Take Special Care Of Those Who Are Weak In The Faith (Part 4).

TAKE SPECIAL CARE OF THOSE WHO ARE WEAK IN THE FAITH

Romans 14:1 (NIV) says “Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.”

Romans 14:13 (NIV) saysTherefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in the way of a brother or sister.”

Romans 14:19 (NIV) saysLet us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.”

Romans 15:1 (NIV) says “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.”

The above scriptures tell us that we are not to do anything in front of a brother or sister that they think is wrong but we think, according to the Bible, is not wrong.

Example # 1: You go out to dinner with brothers and sisters. You normally have a glass of wine with your meal and you believe, according to the Bible, there is nothing wrong with this. But, if it Is wrong in the eyes of the people you are with, then for their sake, you should abstain from having your glass of wine.

Example # 2: You like to listen to Jazz music. Your brother or sister doesn't like to listen to Jazz music because it brings back thoughts of their past life when they were doing something wrong while listening to Jazz music. If you know this, then you should abstain from listening to this music while you are with them.

We are not to quarrel about issues that are matters of opinion. Differences should not be feared or avoided, but accepted and handled with love.

If a brother of sister regards something as sinful, then for him or her, it is sinful. If your brother or sister is distressed because of what you eat, drink or do and you do it in front of them anyway, you are not acting in love.

Everything we do affects others and we have to think of them constantly. God created us to be interdependent, not independent. We who are strong in our faith must, without pride or condescension, treat others with love, patience and self-restraint.

How To Live Your Faith Each Day (Part 3)

The following are guidelines for living as redeemed people in a fallen world. We are to:

  • Give Ourselves To God As Living Sacrifices (Part 1);
  • Obey The Government (Part 2);
  • Love Our Neighbors (Part 3); And
  • Take Special Care Of Those Who Are Weak In The Faith (Part 4).

LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS

In Matthew 22:39 (NIV), Jesus said “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Matthew 5:43-45 (NIV) says “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”

In John 15:17 (NIV), Jesus said This is my command: Love each other.”

WHAT IS LOVE?

Romans 12:9-21 (NIV) says9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord. On the contrary: 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.' 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR?

Luke 10:27-37 (NIV) says27 He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

28 'You have answered correctly,' Jesus replied. 'Do this and you will live.' 29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, 'And who is my neighbor?' 30 In reply Jesus said: 'A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.

31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

35 The next day he took out two Denari and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 'Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?' 37 The expert in the law replied, 'The one who had mercy on him.' Jesus told him, 'Go and do likewise.'”

LOVE, FOR THE DAY IS NEAR

Romans 13:8-14 (NIV) says “8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. 9 The commandments, 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not covet,' and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'

10 Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. 11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.

13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.”

WHY IS LOVE FOR OTHERS CALLED A DEBT?

We are permanently in debt to Jesus Christ for the lavish love He has poured out on us. The only way we can even begin to repay this debt is by loving others in turn.

Because Christ's love will always be infinitely greater than ours, we will always have the obligation to love our neighbors.

SELF-LOVE IS NOT WRONG

Somehow, many of us have gotten the idea that self-love is wrong. But if this were the case, it would be pointless to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Even if you have low self-esteem, you probably don't willingly let yourself go hungry. You clothe yourself reasonably well. You make sure there's a roof over your head if you can. You try not to let yourself be cheated or injured. And you get angry if someone tries to ruin your marriage or relationships.

This is the kind of love we need to have for our neighbors. Do we see that others are fed, clothed, and housed as well as they can be? Are we concerned about issues of social justice?

Loving others as ourselves means to be actively working to see that their needs are met. People who truly love themselves and who focus on others rather than themselves rarely suffer from low self-esteem!

Finally, In John 13:34 (NIV), Jesus said “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Our next post on Thursday, August 13, 2015 will continue with Part 4 on Take Special Care Of Those Who Are Weak In The Faith.
